Agnes Strange – Strange Flavour (1975)

AgnesStrange_StrangeFlavour3.5 out of 5 Stars!

Agnes Strange, from the U.K., released only a single album back in ’75, a collection of mostly heavy, no-frills Hard Rock/Blues Rock with strong Psychedelic influences.

With guitar-driven songs such as “Failure,” “Give Yourself a Chance,” “Children of the Absurd,” and “Granny Don’t Like Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the music often brought to mind groups such as Grand Funk Railroad, Status Quo, Foghat, Blue Cheer, and even The Stooges, especially since an almost punk attitude pervades many of the tracks along with the album’s stark production quality.

If nothing else, Agnes Strange seemed to possess a wild imagination, an “ear for the weird,” so it’s too bad the group wasn’t given a chance to develop further.
